FAQs
It’s a one-on-one coaching program that helps students develop the motivation, self-awareness, and habits that drive long-term success. Unlike tutoring, which targets a specific subject, AEC addresses the underlying factors that determine whether a student thrives or struggles across the board: self-concept, self-direction, self-management, and self-support.
Tutoring helps a student improve in a specific subject. AEC helps a student become the kind of person who improves at everything. I don’t teach math or edit essays — I work on the internal foundations that make academic effort feel purposeful rather than pointless.
Educational therapy addresses specific learning differences such as dyslexia, processing disorders, or other diagnosed conditions, typically under the guidance of a credentialed specialist. AEC is not educational therapy. While I work with many neurodiverse students, my focus is on motivation, mindset, and habit formation rather than clinical intervention. Some students benefit from both, and I’m happy to work alongside an educational therapist when appropriate.
Yes. Many of my students are neurodiverse. My approach focuses on motivation, self-awareness, and practical habits, which benefit students across a wide range of learning profiles. That said, I’m not an educational therapist. If a student’s primary need is clinical support for a specific learning disability, I’ll be straightforward about that and help connect you with the right specialist.
I work with students in 8th grade through college. Occasionally I work with younger students or recent graduates, depending on the situation.
Most students meet with me once or twice per week. The frequency depends on the student’s needs and schedule, and it may shift over the course of the program.
My rate is $240 per hour. I don’t sell packages. I bill monthly based on sessions completed.
It varies according to the needs of the student. Every program has a defined endpoint — the goal is self-sufficiency, not indefinite support. Some students work with me for a few months, others for longer. The duration depends on what we’re working on and how quickly the student internalizes the foundations we build together.
Both. I work with students locally in the Los Angeles area in person, and with students across the country via Zoom.
